“Jio Aur Jina Do” These are the most important teachings of our Tirthankara Mahavir's. Not to harm any living beings including animals, birds, small creatures and even plants . His ways of meditation, days of austerities, mode of behaviour furnished a beautiful example for monks and nuns in religious life. After twelve years he realised perfect perceptions of knowledge, power and bliss .This realisation was “Kewal -Gyan .”He spend his next thirty years travelling bare feet around India Preaching to the people the eternal truth he realised. Rich or poor ,kings and commoners , men and women, princes and priests touchables and untouchables all were attracted by him . He organised his followers into four fold order ,namely Sadhu ,Sadhvi ,Shravak , Shravika . Later on they were known as Jains. The main objective of his teaching was how one can attain total freedom from the cycle of birth , life , pain , misery and death known as Nirvana or Moksha .
